Classes

Author: GlitterGuts | Filed under: Conceptual, Misc

The class structure works as an addition to the species structure. There will be some species that cannot become a member of a certain class, but that will be covered in the individual species profiles. The concept of “class” to be described here is not that of social status or income [though it can play a part]; it is to describe a sub-species, if applicable to the subject at hand.

The classes themselves are fairly basic, the ability of and effect it has on individuals is not. The abilities these classes posses are never universal, they must be harnessed and learned well before the gifts of such powers can come to fruition.

Pyre

Born into this class, their need to eat and sleep is dramatically reduced. Not classed as technically dead because their vital organs still function, blood still pumps through their veins- just everything is at a slower rate. They have the ability to regenerate and heal fatal wounds at a significant pace despite this. Characteristically their skin appears a lot sicklier, and gives the appearance of being clammy. They have little to no heat generated from their bodies compared to that of a normal being.

They have bloodlust, like that of a vampire; but they don’t rely on it to live, and if the individual has self-control it does not make them bloodthirsty killers. The desire for blood can be satisfied by drinking blood from an animal- like one that can be bought at the butchers.

They are of psychic nature, but not to the point of being able to read ones thoughts; moreso they have a heightened intuition, a more sensitive synchronicity to those around them. It is common that they have the power to lucid dream, or to have premonitions in the guise of dreams.

They will die of starvation and thirst, but wounds aren’t effective and it takes far too long for them to bleed to death.  They drown very easily, and as a result, tend to avoid water.

Shade

Shades have the ability to bend time and space, allowing them be at multiple places at once. Typically shades appear human but have outstanding characteristics such as large glass-like eyes or an apparent lack of blinking. There has not yet been a case documented where a shade can divide into more than three beings.

The way in which they divide depends on their species. Their sub form/s have the appearance of what species they are. So if, for example, an ElraCurr shade is born and it possesses a feral and anthropomorphic form, it will have three individuals in which it can divide into. It’s alpha form, it’s anthro, and it’s feral, all at once.

If the individual has a humanoid form it will not count as an additional dividee, since the apha form is typically humanoid anyhow. The other and perhaps most important ability they have is the ceasing of time for a short period. It causes much mental strain, so places limits on the ability, but can be one of the most lethal characteristics of their class.

Shades are born into being depending on their parents genetic makeup. Both birth parents have to be of this class in order for their offspring to be born as a Shade.

They are susceptible to disease, poisons, etc and will die of blood loss like normal beings. The only tricky part is catching them.
