I dug up the photos I took while drawing this. Apologies for the awful quality…I still have no scanner and it was taken with my phone.

I was messing around with different photoshop brushes than usual- these are the outcomes.

The building is based off a dream I had the other night where my school was on a cliff  surrounded by a rainforest; I’d like to finish it but I can’t get it to look true enough to the dream. The other two are just random character doodles.

How I draw stuff

This is intended to be more of a guide and a look into how I do things rather than a tutorial, but it can be used as one of those too. You don’t need to know much about Photoshop to understand this article- but you will need a fairly high amount of knowledge on it if you want to put the techniques into practise. For this painting I used Photoshop CS4 and a 4×6 Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet.

Ridiculously artblocked, which is frustrating…I have so much inspiration right now. These are some scribbles I’ve puked out in the past week and pretty much all I’ve been able to manage.

Update on activity

I’m still without a scanner, but good news is I now have room for one, since I moved out of student accommodation and into an actual apartment. So once I can get together the cash I shall put it towards a shiny new scanner. I have looooads of art that I would like to share that has been done over the past three months.

Keep an eye on my Twitter and Facebook page, that’s where all the action is thesedays. I’m going to be giving this ‘ere website a facelift soon too.

Peace!

I suck at environments and would very much like to get better.

So I drew these:

They were quick and messy. I have yet to refine the style. I get so frustrated with my landscape paintings because the colours are always so ridiculously cartoony.

Enjoy!

I did my disappearing act again…sorry about that. >_> If you want to keep updated my deviantART is where I am the most active.

I have no scanner and no room for one since I recently moved states and I’m living in tiny student accommodation. TINY. I also don’t take screenshots of my art much because I don’t take long to finish things. Well, except for stuff like this…

Over twenty hours of work over two days. It is 11am and I have not slept yet. Art is really bad for me.

Below you will find some sketches from the past month. I’m going to buy a sketchbook today, when the shops start to open. I’m going to draw in it every day and it will be a kind of visual journal. It will make this blog’s purpose less redundant. I don’t see the point in uploading finished, refined images here without some kind of purpose- like WIPs or tutorials- since they get dumped on my DeviantART *and* Facebook page already.

It’s my birthday today! Attempting to not sleep for 17-ish hours. Oh energy drinks, how I love thee.

Hopefully lots of art will ensue. Sleep deprivation is a wonderful source of creativity…most of the time.

Rhiger!

He has a filthy mouth.  More info on the character and the art can be found in the description here.

I’ve been working on a lot of character related stuff, feels good to have something to show for the six years I’ve been brewing these concepts up for. I’ll launch my comic website as soon as I have enough pages to carry me a while, and there’ll be lots of concept tidbits to share there when I get around to it too.

Here’s two videos containing timelapses! Part 1 is the underpainting and part 2 are the colours. I figure it’s more effective than showing WIP pictures (and it’s much more fun.) It took three and a half hours, and as per usual I used photoshop CS4 and a graphics tablet.
